The final day of Tons of Rock 2024 offered something for every music taste, featuring acts like Avantasia, Kreator, Satyricon, ZZ Top, and Greta Van Fleet, among others. Even though the crowd was slightly smaller than on previous days, the festival spirit was high.

The day began with Pil & Bue and Bokassa on the Moonlight and Vampire stages, respectively. Norwegian band Seigmen then took to the Scream stage. The band started in the 90s, but havn't been active for a few years. Now Seigmen returned with their new album "Resonans" and many live dates, attracting a significant crowd. If you’re attending the Midgardsblot festival this year, you’ll have another chance to see them live.

Next up were the Cavalera brothers on the Vampire stage, also known as Cavalera Conspiracy or the True Sepultura. They delivered a massive setlist of 14 songs, starting with "Bestial Devastation." Fans actively crowd-surfed and formed circle pits during hits like "Refuse/Resist," "Territory," "From the Past Comes the Storms," and "Troops of Doom."

German thrash metal band Kreator performed next on the Scream stage, adorned with hanging bodies swaying in the wind. Despite some pyro effects being compromised due to that said wind, the crowd enjoyed the gig. Vocalist Mille Petrozza kicked off with "Hate Über Alles" and "Phobia," then encouraged the crowd to create the biggest wall of death during "Enemy of God."

On the Vampire stage, Tobias Sammet's Avantasia put on a spectacular show. Guest performers included Ronnie Atkins from Pretty Maids on "The Scarecrow," Bob Catley from Magnum on "The Story Ain’t Over," and Kenny Leckremo from H.E.A.T. on "Dying For An Angel." Adrienne Cowan and Chiara Tricarico also joined in for "Reach Out for the Light" and "Farewell," respectively. The harmonious blend of sound, visuals, and pyrotechnics made for an unforgettable performance.

Legendary rock band ZZ Top then took over the Scream stage. Bassist Elwood Francis wowed the crowd with his 17-string bass during "Got Me Under Pressure." Meanwhile, on the Moonlight stage, Thundermother attracted an active crowd despite playing simultaneously with ZZ Top. They kicked off with "Speaking of the Devil," followed by "Loud and Free" and "Try with Love."

Satyricon was next on the Vampire stage. Joining Satyr and Frost were Attila Vörös, Steinar Gundersen, and Anthrax’s Frank Bello. They played many of their hits, including "Now, Diabolical," "The Pentagram Burns," "Fuel for Hatred," and the Norwegian black metal anthem "Mother North." Despite the windy weather causing some sound issues, fans had a great time.

The festival's closing headliner was Greta Van Fleet. While often compared to Led Zeppelin, they have yet to achieve the effortless performance style of the legendary band. Though you can surely hear the similarities in the music. For many heavy metal fans it was a hard pass, but despite this, the area in front of the stage was packed with fans. The band played a set of 10 songs, and the festival concluded with a spectacular fireworks display.

Thus, the four-day festival came to an end, filled with fun and great music. With such a varied lineup in 2024, many are eager to see what Tons of Rock 2025 will bring.
