INTERLEAVED: THERE'S BLOOD IN THE WATER

Review by Metallic Barbie

As we will wind down from Christmas and the debauchery of celebrating the New Year, most of us are more focused on surviving the first week of January instead of looking forward to what the rest of the month might bring.  I am here to inform you metalheads that there is lots to clamour for in the early stages of 2023!

In particular, the first EP to be released by Interleaved, There’s Blood In The Water, will drop in January and will kill at least 7 songs’ worth of New Year Blues (and broke-ed-ness lament-y-ness).  A two-man band based out of New Orleans, Pat Deeb and Andrew Licht already have the support of, and collaborations with, some of hard rock royalty. In fact, so impressed was Clint Lowry of Sevendust of the duo, that he lent his guitar prowess to the track “Condescend” and wildly sought-after producer/mixer Ken Andrews (who has worked with the likes of NIN, Beck, Tenacious D, A Perfect Circle and fronted the band Failure) whipped the blend. Ranging from Alice in Chains-like vocal harmonies on “Time Will Tell” to heavy riffs and atmospheric dabblings on “Pulling on that Thread” Deeb and Licht lay it all down and refuse to compromise.  While Licht takes care of the bulk of the vocals, Deeb is the one taking on not only both sets of strings and the skins, but the keys and programming too.

There’s Blood In The Water will shake off the drab that has been plaguing humanity the last couple of years and will welcome a new order in which we can all scream, headbang, and air-play the fuck out of an album cover to cover.
