MT: You had a new album "Vengeance" that came out on September 15, 2023, what has the reaction been like for it?
Hi, nearly all the reviews were awesome, it seems that the press likes ist around the globe.
MT: Was it a long process to put it all together, from writing the lyrics to the physical copy ?
We took the Corona time without playing gigs for focusing on our songwriting. We had the luck to get Doc Gator Records as a partner for our release. The guys there supported us a lot and with Metalmessage as our promotion partner we took the next step.
MT: Does everyone come up with their own riffs, drum blasts, bass riff ?
We do a lot of the writing at home. We are no Rehearsal Room Band, though we also enjoy the time spent there ;-) Most of the time we share riffs or songs and work on them as a team. After we finished on working on the music, I finalize the track with lyrics and vocal harmonies.
MT: Who writes the lyrics, and where does the inspiration come from?
I (Schally) write the lyrics. I am influenced by daily problems in the world as well as by books or tv series.
MT: Do you have anyone that influences your style ?
Huh, I listen to metal since the late 90s so it is hard to name a band that has influenced me a lot. Nearly every Band I liked left a trace.
MT: Of the 12 songs, it there a favourite of yours, and if so, why that one. I know I always seem to have a favourite on an album.
TRACKS:
01. Ignite The Fire 03:31
02. The Wounds That Cause The Pain 04:45
03. Adrenaline 04:33
04. Beastmode 05:03
05. Kingdom of Lies 03:46
06. A New Dawn 05:30
07. The Rise 03:45
08. A Dark Fate 01:22
09. Betrayal 05:31
10. We Were The Shieldwall 04:05
11. The Funeral 04:35
12. The Final Hour 03:39
That is a hard question, I like all the songs. I think Beastmode is quite special, because it shows nearly everything the Band stands for, heavy riffing, ultra melodic choruses and straight forward or groovy drumming. This Song is really a beast and shows that a band can combine classical and modern Heavy Metal without sounding constructed. This is 100%
us.
MT: I see that you are on tour now, how is that going for you?
It has highs and lows as well. As it is the first Tour not as a support band it has packed venues and on the other hand venues where 20 people show up on the other. It is always a little bit of a lottery, but most of the bills are payed aready and we can look forward without pressure. That makes it quite relaxed and it is a lot of fun.
MT: Is there a favourite place for you to have a show?
Most of the Shows in Duisburg or Krefeld are quite comfortable, because they are mostly packed and the clubowners know us. It makes a lot of things very easy and feels like home.
MT: What is the one place that would be your bucket list to perform?
We would look forward to play in Wacken, but it hasn't been our time until now ;-)
MT: What has been the best thing about being in Ignition for you?
It is the growing Process in becoming a better band. We all work hard on our aims but it is quite easy when you are a bunch of friends.
MT: After your tour, what is next for you?
Playing more live ;-) After that a new Album.
MT: Tell us something about the band that we might not know?
Andreas, our bass player has got a Solo Project: Tyrants Curse, you should check that out.
MT: What has been the worst experience for you about being in the music industry?
We did not make any bad experience in the music industry. Every bad side of the industry has it's good as well. For example the streaming services are good to reach fans from all over the world. The bad side is, that artist get less money for their work. If you are realistic in the things you can achieve and believe in yourself, very much of your dreams can become reality, though it takes more time than in a few decades before.
MT: What is some advice you would give someone who wants to start up a band?
Focus on the things you can do good. Forget the rest and be yourself.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this interview, we wish you a successful tour, and much success with Vengence.
