DISTANT: HERITAGE
Review by Metal Mom Rita
I had a moment to sit down and review the latest release from Distant called "Heritage" out via Century Media on Feb 10th.
The band is a 5 piece crushing "down tempo deathcore" from Rotterdam, Netherlands and Bratislava, Slovakia. Quite the unique genre, that is for sure, hadn't heard of something like this before. They were created in 2014 and seems to have taken the world by storm.
Now to begin with, I have never heard of this band before, a new one for me. Had been asked to review it, so got a chance to sit down, and take it all in. My first introduction is Acid Rain, well done, nice music there to draw people in.
Paradigm Shift is the first introduction with the vocals, I do like the varied vocals, not just all the same, makes it interesting to listen to. If you are looking for brutal death metal with some heavy added in for good measure, then you will find it right here. There is a lot of variety, with the drumming, some fast paced kick ass rhythms and blast beats.
Each song is NOT the same sounding, which kept me listening. They have the talent to pull this all off and give you the best of what they have to offer.
I do recommend it for all those death metal fans out there. And for those that are not, like me, give it a listen, I am sure it will draw you in.
